While most time the Player of the Week is determined by the Most EFF player, this week it was simply answered by the best performance of the night, regardless of Total EFF. Gerald scored 32 of his 52 points in the 1st half, to lead is team a 77-75 win. what was so amazing is that he did it shorthanded with his team having only 4 players against the full team for MIR. Gerald seemed to hit every shot his team needed as he made 12 three’s on the night.

Big Time Players On Friday Night!

Some games are much more entertaining than others, and some players make it that way. Friday night was filled with blowouts, but it had one game come down to the last shot, and it was the best game, and maybe best single game performance of the year by any player so far. If you missed it…You missed it.

Run-N-Gun wasted no time at all destroying Squad Up on Friday Night. They took a 36 point lead into the half, as they led 52-16 by the break, then cruised to a 82-39 win in the game. Dre M led the way with 29 points and 6 assists, while Jonathan W had another double double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Ben P anchored the defense with 2 blocks to go with his 17 boards, while Jamaal H (15 points) and Lawrence D (12 points) both scored in double figures.

DM came into the game shorthanded, playing with only 4 players in the game, and they simply came up short. Although Jaron had 30 points and 17 boards, while Josh B had 23 points, they just didn’t have enough. Sam B led Showtime in scoring with 38 points, knocking down 8 three’s, as he stayed hot all night. But this game belonged to Christian as he grabbed his 1st triple double of the season with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. With Hector scoring 13 points with 8 assists, and Jorge scoring 11 points, Showtime beat DM 100-74 to win the game.

In another game of 4 on 5, Makin It Rain had a clear advantage over the shorthanded team of Mixed Breed. MIR led by as many as 15 points early in the 1st half, as they were looking to blow away Mixed Breed, and attempted to gie them their 1st loss of the season…..Until Gerald H got going. Gerald simply stole the show, and became a 1 man wrecking crew, as he hit 10 three’s and scored 32 points IN THE 1ST HALF! With MIR trying to do anything they could to stop him (denying the ball, double teams, triple teams), all they could do is slow him a bit in the second half. As he was only able to hit 2 three’s in the 2nd half, he hit a flurry of lay-ups and floaters to finish with 52 points in the game. Even with Gerald’s hot shooting, it still came down to a last second shot by Michael R to win the game 77-75. Because of how loud Gerald’s game was, Michael quietly had a strong game himself, with 14 points, 18 boards, and 7 assists in the win. James H and Cory I both had big double-doubles with 24 points – 10 boards & 24 points – 13 rebounds respectively in the loss.

Monstars  ended the night with a much needed win over Hooptars. Adrian led the way with 22 points and 11 boards, followed by Bradley with 13 points and Jeff with 10 points in the win. Markiss C had 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Harvey and Deion had 11 oints each in the game. But Monstars were simply to much to handle for Hoopstars, as the Monstars went on to win the game 61-49.

6 Weeks In, and Wedneday Night Playoff Seeds Are All Up In The Air…

You would think that after 6 weeks, that some seeds would be pretty secure, but not quite yet. Some teams are starting to roll, while others are still searching to find themselves.

Showtime is playing for their 1st Championship in over a year on Wednesday Night, as they are positioned to take the #1 Seed if they win out. They started by beating struggling High Klass, as they remain win-less on the season. After taking a 44-39 halftime lead, High Klass faded once again down the stretch. Kenny J and Derek M had 20 points each for Showtime, followed by teve with 19 points, and Orion with 13 points. Derek also had 11 boards and 7 assists, as his team won the game 85-71, as they outscored High Klass 46-27 in the 2nd half. Ashton C had 25 points on 12 for 16 shooting for High Klass, and Clinton H had 21 points, but they came up short in the game.

After Legacy & Rockstars fought to a 32-32 1st half tie, Legacy was able to pull away in the 2nd half. While they struggled to make shots as a team, Bobby B got hot late hitting 9 three’s in the game, scoring 33 points for Legacy. The Size of Rockstars made it hard to get inside or 2nd shots all night, and although they were out rebounded early, and completely outsized, they fought hard to end the game with the same number of boards Rockstars had (43). James L had 14 points and 10 boards followed by Dre with 11 points and 9 boards, while Lance had 8 points but 14 big Rebounds in the game. Sean R had 16 points and 11 boards, Chance had 12 points and 11 boards, and Yoseph had 17 points and 7 boards for Rockstars, but they fell behind late. With Legacy getting 12 steals (Bobby and Dre 4 each) to only 2 for Rockstars, Legacy outscored them by 10 points in points off turnovers, to win the game 74-63.

The Business just seems to look stronger and stronger, as they find their stride as the season goes on. With Terrell B finding his touch from deep, he went 7 for 9 from three point land, to score 27 points on the night. With Eric scoring 12 points and Leon scoring 10 points, combined with a 10 point lead to start the game, they seemed to be in cruise control after the 1st half. With The Clippers coming in late once again, they trailed once more from the beginning. And while Johnnie G led Clippers with 34 points in the game (on 14-22 shooting), and Kareem had 16 points, they got a total of 11 points from their other 3 players on the night. The Business went on to win the game 82-61.

Riverside Heat were up against Riverside Run-N-Gun in the final game of the evening, and while this game was close at half, 44-39, it didn’t stay that way in the 2nd half. The Heat outscored RNG 51-30 in the 2nd half, as they went on to blow them out 95-69 in the game. Houston led the way with 29 points, while going 14-15 from the field in the game. Gary G hit 6 three’s and scored 24 points in the game to trail Houston, while Tree had 15 points and 14 boards on the night. Dedrick had 31 points in the loss for RNG, as he went 10-14 from the Free Throw line. George had 14 points and 13 boards and Nate finished in double figures with 15 points in the game for RNG.
