Monday Night Men’s Teams Head To Playoff’s…

While both the A and B Divisions finished their regular season games, there were still some very interesting games to end the season. Along with those games, there was some changes in the B Division’s playoff seeding, while the A Division seemed to stay the same once again with it’s tops seeds. Question becomes, Will this regular season stay true for the playoff’s this season?

Showtime sowed up the #1 seed once again as they sent Payback home for the playoff’s with a 80-69 win. With Payback playing with some intensity early on, they took a 36-33 lead into the half, as they hoped to close their season out on a high note. With Jerry leading the way with 20 points, followed by Andre with 15 points – 4 steals, and Ivory with 11 points – 9 rebounds – 6 assists in the game. But their biggest impact came from Dame Maree playing in his 1st game after missing the first 7 games of the season, he had 18 points – 12 rebounds as he changed their team dynamic with his play. Showtime played with the heart of a Champion though, as they fought back and took the lead in the 2nd half. With Leon closing in on the 1st quadruple double in Legacy Sports history (although the bad version), he had 30 points – 14 rebounds – 7 assists and 10 turnovers in the game. But his almost 50% shooting, along with 3 steals and a block helped make up for his mishaps early, followed by Sid with 14 points, Christian with 12 points, Tracy with 11 points – 9 rebounds, and George with 10 rebounds in the win.

The game between Aztecs and Mama’s Boys was a preview of their 1st round playoff matchup, as these 2 teams will meet again in the playoff’s in 2 weeks. The Aztecs came into the game shorthanded, as they played it with only 4 players, while Mama’s Boys had 6 players at the game. With both teams taking double digit leads in the game, Mama’s Boys held a slight 36-35 lead at the break. Aztecs changed the game, and sent a message in the 2nd half as they took their 4 players and simply outplayed and outscored Mama’s Boys. With Kareem leading the way with 26 points - 9 rebounds, along with Desmond Granger’s huge 24 points – 17 rebounds game while shooting 69% in the game (11 for 16), Aztecs went on to win the game 80-76. Jimmy D had 16 points, and Ben S had 14 points – 3 blocks in the win. Melvin W led Mama’s Boys with 20 points, followed by Marquis with 17 points – 14 rebounds – 6 assists, Ronny with 17 points, and Kareem with 15 points – 12 rebounds, but they fell short at the line, as they went 5 for 16 in the game from the stripe.

Intensity closed out the night with a 105-91 win over Stubb’s N Friends. While Stubb’s N Friends have played much stronger games down the stretch, they simply did not have enough against a full Intensity squad. After taking a 7 point lead in the 1st half, Intensity was able to expand that to a 19 point lead, and finished the game with a 14 point win. Wayne R led the way with 37 points – 8 rebounds, followed by Deondrae with 23 points – 4 steals – 2 blocks, Chron with 20 points – 13 rebounds, and Gerald with 18 points – 9 assists – 8 rebounds in the win. Dylan H led the way for Stubb’s N Friends with 23 points, followed by George with 19 points, Aaron with 18 points – 11 rebounds, Alfredo with 16 points – 17 rebounds, and Donovan with 15 points – 11 rebounds in the loss, as they end their season.

Untouchables started the night off in the B Division with a wild 3 point win over Chewbs, as Chewbs now lost 3 of their last 4 games after starting season off 4-0. Untouchables end the season on a 2 game win streak to get back to .500 entering the playoff’s, as they win the game 54-51. After trailing by 10 points at the end of the 1st half, Untouchables fought back hard, and took control of the game with some hot shooting, led by Vernon with 3 of 4 three’s in the 2nd half to score 11 points for his team. With Mark’s huge double double with 13 points – 16 rebounds, Jared with 12 points, and Jamal with a 11 point – 11 rebound double double, Untouchables were able to pull the game out. Bradley led Chewbs with 18 points, followed by Nick with 14 points in the loss.

While Showtime Jr still had a chance at the #1 seed if they won, and Dynasty lost, they also had some messages to send in the process, as they were focused all night. Lakers started the game shorthanded, and once they got down, they were unable to catch up with their final 2 players showing up late. Showtime Jr’s game plan must have been get Christian the ball, as he simply torched The Lakers all night. Christian hit 3 after 3, as he finished the game with 11 three’s, scoring 39 points in the process. Martin had 14 points – 10 rebounds, followed by Sid with 11 points, and  Alex N with 10 points in the game, as they went on to win 91-62. Robert led The Lakers with 17 points – 9 rebounds, followed by Jon with 12 points – 10 rebounds, while James had 13 rebounds – 7 assists – 4 steals in the loss.

Dynasty ended any hopes of Showtime Jr getting the #1 seed early in their game versus Storm, as they took a 42-20 lead in the 1st half. Simply playing lights out all night, Dynasty got hot from deep as a team, as they shot 40% hitting 20 three’s as a team on Monday Night. Led by Leif with 25 points – 13 rebounds (3 for 7 from deep), Dynasty had all players except one hit a three in the game. Joey led the way with 5 three’s, as he scored 16 points, followed by Mark with 14 points (4 for 7 three’s), Bryan with 13 points (3 for 6 three’s), Dave with 12 points ( 2 for 4 three’s), Ryan with 10 points (2 three’s), and Brian with 4 points including 1 three on the night. Dynasty went on to win the game 94-51 as they locked up the #1 seed with the win. Abraham led the way for Storm with 34 points – 26 rebounds in the game, as they slide into the playoff’s with the #6 seed.

Sunday Night Men Returned in Both A and B Divisions….

Sunday Night is a huge night, as 16 men’s teams will show off their talents in both Legacy Sports A & B Divisions. The A Division returned with 4 of their 6 teams in action, while the B Division had all 10 teams playing on Sunday night.

Fierce started off the night versus Big Time in the A Division, as they were both new to the division. While both teams came in shorthanded, they both had a 5th payer show up late in the game. Fierce took control early, and never trailed in the game, as they turned a 6 point halftime lead into a 10 point win. With Jaron B leading the way with 26 points – 9 rebounds, he showed that he is a former Legacy Sports All Star with his strong play. With Jontell scoring 17 points, and followed by Adam with 14 points, Fierce beat Big Time 70-60 on Sunday Night. Desmond led Big Time with 23 points – 12 rebounds, followed by Jeff N with 17 points, and Kadell with 12 points in his Legacy Sports debut, as they lost their opener on the season.

Showtime completely dominated in their win against BallisLife, as they led by as many as 33 points in their 27 point 101-74 win. After scoring big, and playing strong defense in the 1st half, they took a 54-31 lead into the break. While BallisLife woke up a bit more on offense in the 2nd half, led by Jamal with 34 points in the game, they still didn’t have enough defense to stop Showtime. Led by Chron with 26 points – 9 rebounds – 6 assists, Christian with 20 points, Derek with 17points – 6 rebounds, George with 13 points, and Sid with 10 points in the game, Showtime just put the ball in the basket, as they shot 56% as a team. Following Jamal for BallisLife was Shannon with 18 points – 4 steals in his return to Legacy Sports action, and Andre with 10 points in the loss.

Defending Champions POWER House got things started off in the B Division, as they played a great game versus Tha Team on opening night. While this “Tha Team” is all new, they were just as formidable, as they played down to the wire. POWER House took a 25-19 lead at the break, and as much as a 14 point lead in the game, but Tha Team charged back hard. With less than a minute in the game, James Hunt hit a 3 pointer to give his team a 1 point led in the game, but that left just a bit too much time for POWER House, as they were fouled and Heath H made 2 free-throws to take the lead, combined with a stop and another free-throw to win the game 66-64. Heath led the way with 25 points – 8 assists – 4 steals, followed by Zack with 13 points – 9 rebounds in the win. Jimmy led Tha Team with 20 points – 11 rebounds – 5 assists, followed by Brenden with 16 points – 3 steals, and Kyle with 16 points in the loss.

Flotilla returned to settle some scores, as they had their way with newcomers Big Shots. With the teams playing a close 1st half, with Big Shots leading 19-17 in the 1st half, the game looked like it would go down to the wire. Flotilla just opened up the game in the 2nd half, as they outscored Big Shots 32-7 after the break. They went on to win the game 49-26, with Salah leading the way with 22 points, and Luis cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds in the win. Rocky led Big Shots with12 points – 5 steals, while Steve cleaned the glass with 11 rebounds in the loss.

Corona Bulls stepped in to play the Lakeshow in the 2nd B Division game, as both teams have old pieces on a new team. Defense was key all night, as the teams played a tight, 18-15 game in the 1st half. 2nd half was more defense, as this game went down to the wire. Lakeshow did just enough to win, as they beat the Corona Bulls 37-35 in the game.

Showtime Jr decided to step in and play on Sunday Nights B Division, as they played newcomers The Warriors. This game was all about the offense, as these teams put up nice numbers all night. Showtime Jr took a 40-35 lead at the half, and expanded it to a 82-73 win in the game, as Chris Alvarez led the way with 27 points – 12 rebounds – 11 assists, notching his 1st ever Legacy Sports Triple double. Sid had 19 points, Francisco had 18 points – 8 rebounds, and Jorge had 10 points – 16rebounds in the win. CJ Jones had 17 points – 17 rebounds to lead The Warriors, followed by Keron with 17 points, Sam with 15 points – 12 rebounds, and Danny with 15 points in the loss.

Women Look to Have A Change Up Top…

With the 6 teams that are playing on Sunday night, there seems to be a movement for who is the top team this season. With Hot Mess playing strong again in the regular season, and with the defending Champion Rebels losing, Fierce is looking to emerge as a serious threat.

Hot Mess had their way with AMU in the 1st game of the night. Hot Mess got started early, as they took a 39-10 lead in the 1st half, as they just controlled the open court with fast break after fast break. Not relenting, they extended their lead to as many as 56 points, as they ran off and beat AMU 79-25 in the game. Shavonne S led the way with 39 points – 4 steals, followed by LaCresha S with 20 points – 4 steals, Detra with 10 points – 13 rebounds – 4 steals, while Amber had 10 rebounds in the win. Sarah led AMU with 14 points – 8 rebounds in the loss.

Fierce upended Rebels with a 60-49 win in the game. Fierce controlled the glass and the game, as they out-rebounded The Rebels 48-34 in the game. After taking a 9 point halftime lead, they turned it into an 11 point win, as they beat Rebels 60-49. Thyre led the way with a triple double, scoring 14 points, grabbing 13 boards, and dishing out 10 assists in the game. Ashley Jenkins had 16 points – 10 rebounds – 2 blocks in her Legacy Sports debut, followed by Cherrise with 16 points in her debut, and Megan L with 14 points – 13 rebounds in the win.
