Controversy started off the night, and complaints ended the night, with 2 runaway games in between. With players having big games, things were active on Wednesday Night.
With Showtime needing a win to prevent starting off 0-2, and Legacy wanting to win to go 2-0, this game was played tough all the way through. Showtime started off slow, as Legacy took a 15 point lead early in the 1st half, as they lead 27-12. But with Showtime going on a 27-9 run to end the half, they took a 39-36 lead into the half, after hitting a three as the buzzer sounded to end the 1st half. George T led the way with 14 points in the half for Showtime, while James W had 13 in the 1st half for Legacy. The 2nd half went just about the same way, as Legacy took a 13 point lead, 64-51, but couldn’t hold on with Showtime tying the game up at 82 on a three by Jerald. With 1 last chance, Legacy was able to get a rebound put-back to end the game 84-82, with controversy swirling that the clock may have expired prior to Dexter releasing his shot, and scoring the winning bucket. Dre M led Legacy with 31 points and 11 boards, followed by James with 27 points, Dexter with 13 points, Dame with 11 points, and Lance with 11 boards and 11 assists in the win. George led Showtime with 28 points and 10 boards, followed by Jerald G with 23 points, and Steve with 13 points in the loss.
The Business was all about making sure they didn’t have a let down on Wednesday Night, in their quest to go 2-0, as they jumped out to a 44-32 halftime lead over Game Time, as they hoped to get their 1st win. With Leon F leading the way with 15 of his 32 points, The Business led by as many as 15 points in the 1st half. The 2nd half just got worse for Game Time, as The Business led by as many as 33 points in the game. Gerald H got hot in the 2nd half, as he scored 18 points in the 2nd half (6 of his 7 three’s on the night) to finish with 25 points for his team. The Business won the game 83-50 going away, as Game Time had no chance. Kenny J had 12 points and 7 assists, while Matt O had 11 boards in his debut. Justin C led Game Time with 17 points in the loss.
With Rockstars and Clippers both winning in their 1st week, they matched up trying to give the other team its first loss of the season. With Johnnie G scoring 20 1st half points, followed by Dedrick with 10 points, they looked t0 be well on their way to a win. But to bad they were the only 2 scoring, as they trailed 36-32 at the half, with Rockstars sharing the ball and playing solid interior defense. The 2nd half was more of the same, as Rockstars went on a 30-5 run to start the 2nd half, as they blew the game wide open. They expanded their lead to as many as 31 points, as they held Clippers to 14 points in the 2nd half, an won the game 73-46. Yoseph led Rockstars with 22 points, followed by Jon O with 13 points, Chance with 12 points, an Sean R with 12 points and 16 boards in the game. Johnnie finished with 22 point in the loss, followed by Dedrick with 11 points.
Two teams that lost in the 1st week, were matched up to try and get their 1st win in week 2. Storm and La Sierra played to a 28-28 tie in the 1st half, as neither team could hold on to thier 6 to 8 point lead in the 1st half. The 2nd half was all about defense, as Storm held La Sierra to 24 points, but La Sierra did them a step better and held them to only 17 points. With Daveon and Josh leading the way with 12 points each, followed by Taylor S with 11 points, they were able to pull the win out 52-45 over Storm. Levar M led Storm with 15 points, followed by Kevin with 13 points & 8 rebounds, and Antwon B with 10 points in the loss.
